Getting access to NVwulf

NVwulf is open to Stony Brook instructors, researchers, staff, and students. New projects must have a faculty member as Principal Investigator; everyone else joins an existing project.

Option 1 — join an existing project

If your PI already has an active SeaWulf or NVwulf project:

1. Open a ticket at iacs.supportsystem.com.
2. Select the help topic Request an Account for NVwulf.
3. Include your NetID, the project PI’s name, and the project number.

Option 2 — request a new NVwulf project (faculty only)

1. Prepare a one-page PDF (including any graphics) covering everything below.
2. Open a ticket at iacs.supportsystem.com with help topic Request a Project Number – NVwulf and attach the PDF.
3. The review committee issues a project number by email if approved — or contacts you to discuss alternatives if the request can’t be accommodated.

Your request PDF should include:

• Usage description — a brief overview of the project and why it needs NVwulf.
• Computational resources — annual CPU/GPU hours, RAM per job, GPUs per job, concurrent nodes, and typical job duration.
• Software — packages you’d like installed (can be requested later, but listing them up front speeds things up).
• Disk space — the default is a 20 GB home directory (backed up, never deleted) and a 20 TB scratch directory (not backed up; files deleted after 30 days). Describe any additional long-term or shared storage needs.
• User accounts — full names and NetIDs of all group members needing access (including these up front simplifies the process).
