About Cloud Computing for Clinical Research

The university offers a research-specific Azure subscription providing flexible, compliant environments customizable for individual projects โ€” an alternative to traditional data centers for data-intensive projects, complex simulations, and powerful computing resources.

Intended use cases

  • Short-term research projects requiring resource bursts
  • Situations prioritizing fast, high-quality results over cost control
  • Advanced technologies including AI chipsets, generative AI, and large language models
  • Studies requiring HIPAA and NIST SP 800-171 Rev. 2 compliance support
Important: This is not self-service โ€” a consultation is mandatory. PIs must ensure all data remains within the designated study share(s) created for the IRB-approved study.

How to request

  1. Submit a TDX support ticket including your IRB protocol.
  2. Staff contact you to schedule a consultation meeting.
  3. Together you determine the appropriate technologies, costs, and responsibilities for your project.
