David Cyrille

David Cyrille is Assistant Vice President and Chief Research Information Officer at Stony Brook University, where he leads the Research Computing, Informatics & Innovation (RCI²) organization. With over 30 years in research IT, he directs a core team of roughly 25 whose platforms support a research portfolio exceeding $1.04 billion in awards, 4,050+ researchers, and more than 1,800 publications a year.

He oversees the university's flagship research systems — the SeaWulf HPC cluster, the NVWulf AI/GPU platform delivering 201 PFLOP/s of peak capacity, and ClinWulf, the institution's first HIPAA-aligned HPC cluster — and leads the deployment of its NIST 800-171 compliant environment for controlled unclassified information.

Under his leadership, Stony Brook earned its inaugural NSF Service Provider designation, and he is now advancing the university's pending NSF Track-1 “AMA27” system while representing the institution nationally through leadership roles across NSF ACCESS, PEARC, CUG, and AHUG. Throughout, his focus has remained constant: building the secure, powerful infrastructure that lets researchers accelerate discovery.
