Bin Zhang

Bin Zhang, Research Computing Facilitator with the Division of Information Technology’s Innovation and Research Services at Stony Brook University.

Bin has dedicated more than 30 years to Stony Brook University, serving in a variety of IT leadership and technical roles across the University, Hospital, and research enterprise. Over the course of his career, he has worked extensively in research computing, high-performance computing (HPC), AI, cybersecurity, research data management, cloud technologies, and advanced IT infrastructure. He has partnered with faculty, researchers, clinicians, and research centers to design, deploy, and support innovative computing solutions that enable cutting-edge research.

In his current role, Bin serves as a bridge between researchers and advanced computational resources. He works closely with investigators to help them leverage Stony Brook’s HPC clusters, GPU computing resources, AI platforms, secure research environments, and data management services. He also collaborates with research and IT leadership to evaluate emerging technologies, improve research computing services, and promote best practices in research security and compliance.
