CIFS Access

CIFS Access

Overview

CIFS (Common Internet File System) allows you to mount SeaWulf project storage directly on your local computer, making it accessible like a network drive. This can be useful for working with project files without needing command-line transfers.

General Project Space

SeaWulf project directories under /gpfs/projects/ can be mounted via CIFS for easier access. This method is supported on Windows, macOS, and Linux. Each group’s PI can request project storage, which is shared among project members.

Full instructions are available here: How to Access Your SeaWulf Project Space via CIFS

RPX Project Space

RPX (Research Project Exchange) provides a dedicated file-sharing space for collaborations that extend beyond SeaWulf usage. Like general project space, RPX directories can be mounted via CIFS and accessed as network drives on your local machine.

Note: CIFS access is best suited for lightweight editing and file management. For transferring large datasets, scp, rsync, or Globus are more efficient.
