Understanding the Login Nodes

The login nodes provide an external interface to the SeaWulf computing cluster. The login nodes are for developing source code, preparing submission scripts for the batch queue, submitting and monitoring jobs in the batch queue, analyzing results, and moving data. It is NOT appropriate for running computational jobs or compiling software - to do this use one of the debug queues. If necessary, you can request an interactive session by following this guide: https://rci.stonybrook.edu/hpc/faqs/interactive-shell

If you have an account on the cluster, you can access a login node via ssh: see Logging in to Seawulf.
